This list is in my opinion, the top 10 baby faces of all time. Some may call this list controversial; other people may think I should have included other wrestlers. Feel free to discuss. Here’s the list.

10. Mick Foley/Mankind/Cactus Jack/Dude Love

He’s more than just a glorified stuntman…. Mick Foley and all his personas come in at number 10. Trained by Dominic DeNucci, Mrs Foley’s baby boy has basically lived for wrestling all his life. Not only is he one of the most loved baby faces in the business but he is also a New York Times bestselling author.

9. The Undertaker

The Undertaker debuted in the WWE in 1990 at the survivor series. Originally brought in to the WWE as a heel (bad guy), he soon turned into a fan favourite. Undertaker has an impressive streak of 17 wins and 0 losses at the biggest wrestling event ever, Wrestlemania. Apart from his American Bad Ass gimmick, which the little we say about the better, Undertaker has been a top face for years and at 44 years old, he’s still kicking ass.

8. Goldberg

Bill Goldberg was originally a football player with the Atlanta Falcons and quickly got into wrestling even though originally he wasn’t a wrestling fan and had no real interest in wrestling. He signed up at the WCW Power Plant, the training facility for aspiring wrestlers and was soon on national TV. Goldberg quickly became a top face during the late 1990’s mainly because of his ridiculous winning streak which was like 173-0 until it got ended by Kevin Nash and Scott hall. Goldberg was WCW’s top star during the Monday Night Wars and deserves his place at number 8.

7. Dusty Rhodes

He’s just a common man! Born Virgil Riley Runnels, Jr. it’s hardly surprising the guy changed his name to Dusty Rhodes. Arguably. the most charismatic and entertaining wrestler ever, Dusty was the biggest face of the late 70’s and early 80’s. “The American Dream” won his first world heavyweight title from Harley race in 1979 and would go on to win it 2 more times. Dusty also has 2 sons that are professional wrestlers, Goldust and Cody Rhodes.

6. The Rock

Can you smell what The Rock is cooking? Dwayne Johnson is one of the most influential, charismatic and slickest baby faces of all time. The Rock is a third generation wrestler, his father is Rocky Johnson and his grandfather was the late Peter Maivia. He has lots of relatives that were or are wrestlers such as his uncles, The Wild Samoans and his cousins Manu, Yokozuna, Rikishi, Rosey, and Umaga. The Rock was brought in originally to the WWE as the ultimate baby face, he even had the nickname “The Blue Chipper”, but was booed a lot and chants of “Die Rocky Die” and “Rocky Sucks” were frequent amongst his early matches as he was coming across as being too clean-cut. This was during the time Stone Cold Steve Austin was becoming popular and the attitude era was starting. Rocky changed his name to The Rock, went on to do some of the best promos ever, which included talking about himself in the third person. These entertaining promos quickly won the fans over and made them realise The Rock was not just a one dimensional good guy. The Rock went from wrestling into acting to star in many Hollywood Films such as The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King.

5. Ultimate Warrior

The face painted, muscleman from Parts Unknown was so intense he would run to the ring before a match, shake the ropes and then beat someone up in about 30 seconds. He couldn’t do a promo to save his life, he’d look up to the heavens and the gods and talk gibberish for about 2 to 3 minutes, but that didn’t matter, he looked awesome and his energy and intensity soon took him to super stardom.

4. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin

The rattlesnake revolutionised wrestling in the late 1990’s with his “Don’t give a damn” attitude. Although Austin was originally brought into the WWE as a heel, he quickly became a fan favourite for kicking everyone’s ass. He ever got to beat up his boss and who wouldn’t love to do that? The whole Attitude era of the late 1990’s should be down to Vince McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

3. Bret “Hitman” Hart

Bret “Hitman” Hart is without a shadow of a doubt the best wrestler ever to come from Canada. Some people even argue he is the best wrestler of all time. Coming from the famous Hart Family, Bret has had a number of relatives that are or were wrestlers, such as Jim Neidhart, Owen Hart and “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith. Starting out in the WWE as one half of “The Hart Foundation” with his brother in law, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, the self proclaimed “Best there is, best there was and the best there ever will be” soon became a singles competitor and was quickly a top baby face throughout the early 1990’s in the WWE. The “Excellence of Execution” deserves his space at number 3.

2. Sting

Sting is probably the most famous wrestler to have never worked for WWE. Sting was WCW’s top baby face in the 80’s 90’s and 00’s before its demise and was on many of their wrestling magazine covers. Sting now wrestles for TNA. Sting is a legend and an icon and definitely deserves his spot as the number 2 baby face of all time.

1. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan is without question the number 1 baby face of all time. During the 80’s, Hogan had 24 inch arms or “pythons” as he called them and he encouraged his little hulksters or hulkamaniacs to “train, say your prayers, and take your vitamins!” Alongside Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan changed the face of wrestling from the “circus like” dingy territories to a global phenomenon. Hulk Hogan is like a cartoon character that has come to life. He even had his own cartoon! He graced the cover of many a wrestling magazine, probably more than anyone else in the business. He has loads of Merchandise from wrestling clothes to wrestling games. The larger than life superhero was and still is a role model for many children of the 1980’s. The real American has beaten everyone in the business. Hulkamania WILL never die, it was and still is running wild brother…
